The italian and the spanish data
While Women's Services Phone shows data about violence against Italian women
happened in the last 12 years, the Episcopal Conference criticizes Spanish data
(very similar to Italian ones) and carries on a lot of controversies about this
argument.
83% of violence in Italy 2003 took place at home. Unfortunately Spanish men
are quite violent too: in fact, a considerable number of men kills, every year,
their wives or partners.
The Episcopal Conference drew up a document of 250 pages about domestic crisis.
In this document, the Spanish bishops define this violence as “the bitter
results of the sexual revolution. It separated sex from marriage, procreation
and love” and converted it “to a consumer factor”.
Such a sentence could be defined only in a word: reactionary. It's interesting
to know if and how the dates of the Women's Services Phone will be commented
by the Italian Episcopal Conference.
